Far From All Things Ordinary, the Majestic Dawn Rises
A new day is emerging for the awesome powers that wait just beyond the horizon. In the Pokémon TCG: Diamond & Pearl—Majestic Dawn expansion, the Evolution Pokémon Eevee is ready to be discovered in its ice and grass forms—Glaceon and Leafeon. With more new Pokémon, new Pokémon LV.X, a cool new Stadium card, and all seven powerful evolutions of Eevee, Majestic Dawn puts amazing origins right before your eyes!
Released on May 21 2008, the Majestic Dawn Pokémon set became the fifth expansion of the Diamond & Pearl era and the English showcase for Japan’s Dawn Dash block. Its 100‑card main lineup spotlights Sinnoh’s sunrise legends and a full family of Eeveelutions, then tacks on three secret‑rare LV.X birds—Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres (101–103/100) for dedicated hunters. Two theme decks—Polar Frost starring Glaceon and Forest Force led by Leafeon—mirrored the set’s dawn‑and‑twilight color palette and gave new players a ready route into competitive play.
On the battlefield, Majestic Dawn left a lasting mark. Call Energy debuted here, letting any Basic Pokémon search out two friends and instantly smoothing early‑game setups; many pros still regard it as one of the best opening cards ever printed. Leafeon LV.X paired Energy‑accelerating “Energy Forcing” with brutal damage scaling, while Glaceon LV.X locked down Poké‑Powers to stall opponents in their tracks—together they spawned the popular “Eeveelution toolbox” deck that headlined the 2008 World Championships. Fossil strategies also surged thanks to Omastar (Primal Swirl) and Aerodactyl (Primal Claw), a combo that punished over‑extended benches and gave the ancient Pokémon archetype new life.
Collectors find plenty of sunrise sparkle as well. Majestic Dawn is the only set where every non‑legendary Eeveelution appears twice—once as a rare and once as a holographic alternative art—making a nine‑card rainbow page possible for the first time. The prerelease promo, a stamped Mothim (42/100), is one of the few prerelease cards never reissued in holo form. Arrange Kabutops 6/100 and Omastar 26/100 side by side and their backgrounds form a hidden panorama of fossil cliffs catching first light, an artist Easter egg that often goes unnoticed. Between breakout staples like Call Energy, dual LV.X Eevees, and secret‑rare legendary birds, the Majestic Dawn Pokémon set still feels as fresh as the first rays over Mt. Coronet.
