Ultimate Challenges… Supreme Victors!

Increase your power with impressive new Pokémon that will take you to the pinnacle of Pokémon battles—the Battle Frontier! In the Pokémon TCG: Platinum—Supreme Victors expansion, you’ll find more sizzling Pokémon SP like Blaziken, more ferocious Pokémon LV.X like CharizardLV.X, and more opportunities to battle your way to the top! Your victory will be supreme when you play with Pokémon trained by Team Galactic, the Frontier Brains, and the Sinnoh League Champion!

The Supreme Victors expansion stormed into stores on 19 August 2009, showcasing a bumper 153‑card lineup that pushed the Platinum‑era SP mechanic to its competitive peak. Imported from Japan’s Beat of the Frontier, the set spotlights Pokémon enlisted by Sinnoh’s Frontier Brains and Champion Cynthia. Every new SP card carries either the “C” or “FB” tag—think Charizard G, Rayquaza C, or Staraptor FB—and features a mini portrait of its famous trainer. Booster wrappers highlight Charizard, Garchomp, Rayquaza, and Absol, while theme decks Ignition (Blaziken FB) and Drill Point (Rhyperior FB) immerse players in the toughest battles the Battle Frontier can offer.

Gameplay impact was immediate and long‑lasting. Garchomp C LV.X debuted with the game‑warping “Dragon Rush,” a bench‑sniping attack that paired perfectly with Luxray GL LV.X from Rising Rivals, creating the “LuxChomp” archetype that dominated 2010 World Championships. Charizard G LV.X introduced the devastating “Malevolent Fire,” while Blaziken FB LV.X made its mark by dragging targets Active and inflicting Burn in the same turn. Support cards tied to Frontier Brains—like Aaron’s Collection, Palmer’s Contribution, and the Stadium Champion’s Room—added recursion, recovery, and cost‑cutting options that fit neatly into the already‑flexible SP toolbox.

Collectors have plenty of hidden gems to chase. Six secret rares lurk beyond the numbered list: retro reprints of the Legendary Bird trio (Articuno 148/147, Zapdos 149/147, Moltres 150/147) rendered in modern foil, plus a trio of Shiny Pokémon—Yanma SH9, Milotic SH10, and Relicanth SH11—each sporting textured holo and alternate colors. Line up Absol G 21/147 and Absol G LV.X 141/147 and you’ll notice the background lightning bolts connect into one continuous storm, an Easter egg from artist Shin Nagai. Early print runs show a faint glossy overlay on LV.X cards—particularly Rayquaza C LV.X—making pristine copies a variant hunter’s delight. Packed with championship‑caliber cards, nostalgic secret rares, and clever artistic touches, the Supreme Victors Pokémon set truly lives up to its name, crowning the SP era with flair and ferocity.
