Constellations Align in a Show of Force!

Overflowing with light, Arceus VSTAR descends from on high to share its celestial powers with other Pokémon V. Shaymin VSTAR, Charizard VSTAR, and Whimsicott VSTAR find themselves wielding awesome new VSTAR Powers, while Mimikyu VMAX, Aggron VMAX, and Kingler VMAX in its Gigantamax form boast tremendous strengths of their own. Discover glimmering constellations and start your journey toward stellar greatness in the Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Brilliant Stars expansion!

The Brilliant Stars Pokémon Set soars into the Sword & Shield Series as its ninth main expansion, arriving in Japan on January 14, 2022 (as Star Birth) and in English on February 25, 2022. Building on the success of previous blocks, Brilliant Stars pulls cards from the Japanese Star Birth expansion, the Start Deck 100, and the VMAX Climax subset—totaling over 190 cards in the English release. From the moment you crack open a booster—each containing ten cards, a code card for Pokémon TCG Live, and either a basic Energy or a handy VSTAR marker—you’ll feel the cosmic energy that defines this set.

At the heart of the Brilliant Stars Pokémon Set is the introduction of the Pokémon VSTAR mechanic, led by the Alpha Pokémon Arceus VSTAR. Pokémon VSTAR evolve from their V form and each boasts a one‑time use VSTAR Power, echoing the GX attacks of past eras but with fresh, game‑changing effects. Alongside Arceus, fan favorites like Charizard VSTAR, Shaymin VSTAR, and Whimsicott VSTAR bring dynamic strategies to both casual and tournament play. The set also revives the Trainer Gallery subset—last seen in Cosmic Eclipse—featuring stunning Full Art reprints of Trainers alongside their signature Pokémon, perfect for display or deck‑building flair.

Beyond game mechanics, the Brilliant Stars Pokémon Set sparkles with collectible depth. The VMAX Climax subset rounds out the expansion with jaw‑dropping Gigantamax forms, while the Start Deck 100 offers newcomers a ready‑to‑play experience with themed decks and exclusive promo cards. The inclusion of VSTAR marker cards—white with the VSTAR symbol on one side and a Poké Ball on the reverse—adds a tactile, visual aid to gameplay, and acrylic marker versions became sought‑after accessories. Subtle design touches, like the starburst set symbol and holo starlight patterns on Full Art pulls, reinforce the cosmic theme and keep collectors hunting for that next brilliant find.
