Unbroken, Unbowed, Undefeated—Unova Blasts Back!

Challenges ring out, Pokémon duel, and the battle for Unova enters the next chapter in the Pokémon TCG: Black & White—Plasma Blast expansion! With Virizion-EX by your side, you must lead the counterattack against the failing forces of Team Plasma as they mount their last stand behind the twinned might of Team Plasma Dialga-EX and Palkia-EX! Victory is within your grasp, when suddenly you face your greatest test…the mighty and mysterious Genesect-EX takes the battlefield, supported by devastating ACE SPEC cards that give it additional attacks! Trainers, it’s time to break the ice!

Pokémon TCG: Black & White—Plasma Blast is the tenth main expansion of the Black & White Series, released in English on August 14, 2013 (after Japan’s Megalo Cannon debut on March 15, 2013). As the final chapter of the BW Era in Japan, Plasma Blast caps off Unova’s saga by spotlighting Generation V Pokémon, the enigmatic Team Plasma, and the fearsome Mythical Pokémon Genesect‑EX. Bringing together booster packs and powerful half‑deck releases, this set provides a thrilling conclusion for trainers building competitive decks or completing their collections.

At the heart of Plasma Blast lies the return of Pokémon‑EX, including the breakout Genesect‑EX, whose “Hydro Bomb” attack can turn the tide of battle—though at the risk of giving up two Prize cards if Knocked Out. The set also continues to feature ACE SPEC Items, each limited to one per deck and easily recognizable by their holofoil borders and red Trainer text. Team Plasma’s chilling aesthetic carries through with icy blue frames and silver accents, reinforcing the set’s theme of frozen ambition and Plasma’s final gambit. Combined with staple Trainer cards and versatile Energy support, Plasma Blast offers both raw power and strategic nuance for every play style.

Beyond its battle‑ready lineup, Plasma Blast is packed with engaging details that delight collectors and lore enthusiasts. In Japan, the set’s title Megalo Cannon directly references Genesect’s signature move—an homage that carries into the English logo, which features a stylized cannon barrel surrounded by crackling Plasma energy. Genesect‑EX holds the distinction of being the first Mythical Pokémon to receive an EX classification, making it a must‑pull for fans of rare chase cards. And while the set’s booster art consistently evokes the gleaming sheen of futuristic weaponry, eagle‑eyed collectors will spot subtle art swaps between Japanese and English printings of Genesect‑EX—proof that even within a single set, every card has its own story to uncover.
