See and collect these astounding Pokémon of myth and legend with the Pokémon TCG: Shining Legends expansion!
Shining Legends Pokémon Set is a special expansion from the Sun & Moon Series, debuting in Japan on July 15, 2017 as 強化拡張パック ひかる伝説 and arriving in English on October 6, 2017. As the fourth subset of the Sun & Moon Era, this set enhances the Burning Shadows block with a laser focus on ultra‑rare Shining Pokémon and movie‑inspired Legendaries. Rather than standard booster boxes, Shining Legends packs were exclusively distributed through themed tins, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special promotional bundles—making each pack crack feel like uncovering a hidden treasure.
Inside the Shining Legends Pokémon Set, trainers can chase over 70 cards, each pack containing 11 cards with a guaranteed two‑foil minimum. The star attractions are the Shining Pokémon—alternate‑color variants that harken back to shinies in the video games—featuring headliners like Shining Lugia, Shining Rayquaza, and Shining Ho-Oh. Complementing these are Mythical and Legendary GX cards tied to the 20th Pokémon movie lineup: expect dazzling full‑art Hoopa-GX, Deoxys-GX, and Celebi-GX that mirror their cinematic debuts. Every card shines behind the sleek Water‑Web holofoil pattern, giving the set a luminous under‑sea aesthetic.
Collectors and competitors alike will be charmed by the set’s unique touches. Shining Legends Pokémon Set launched alongside Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, which is why its roster reads like a greatest‑hits of Alola’s silver screen. Premium tins included exclusive movie‑themed promo cards and enamel pin badges of key Legendaries. Interestingly, this is one of the few Sun & Moon subsets never sold in standalone booster boxes—sealed tins and bundles remain hot commodities on the secondary market. With its radiant art, nostalgic callbacks to Neo Destiny’s shining mechanic, and a spotlight on Pokémon’s cinematic legends, Shining Legends stands out as a luminous highlight of the Sun & Moon Series.
