The Silver Tempest Pokémon Set storms in as the twelfth and final main expansion of the Sword & Shield Series, releasing in Japan as Paradigm Trigger on October 21, 2022, and in English on November 11, 2022. Built from the Japanese Paradigm Trigger block, the Incandescent Arcana subset, leftover cards from Lost Abyss and Dark Phantasma, plus VMAX Climax remainders, this set delivers over 200 fresh and reprinted cards. English boosters each contain ten cards, a Pokémon TCG Live code, and either a basic Energy or a VSTAR marker, while Japanese packs deliver five cards apiece.
At its core, the Silver Tempest Pokémon Set continues support for the Pokémon VSTAR mechanic, spotlighting Legendary Diving Pokémon Lugia VSTAR, frosty Alolan Vulpix VSTAR, and mighty Regidrago VSTAR, plus the sole Regieleki VMAX. Other VSTAR stars include Unown, Mawile, and Serperior, each boasting powerful one‑use VSTAR Powers. The set also introduces three Radiant Pokémon—Alakazam, Jirachi, and Tsareena—offered as borderless, one‑per‑deck treasures. Collectors and competitors will appreciate the 30‑card Trainer Gallery subset, where Trainers and their signature Pokémon reunite in sweeping Full Art scenes.
Beyond gameplay, Silver Tempest is rich with collectible lore. For the first time since its debut, VSTAR Powers appear on Trainer cards, depicted as ancient artifacts reminiscent of the Skyridge expansion’s relic themes and nodding to Paradigm Trigger’s story of a hidden island teeming with fossil and mythical origin Pokémon. Early Elite Trainer Boxes sparked a chase for miscut cards—where Radiant holo spills drifted into the border—while Secret Rare Radiant Jirachi became a high‑value prize among collectors. Subtle details like the micro‑printed easel icon on every Trainer Gallery card remind fans that even as Sword & Shield draws to a close, the art of the TCG continues to evolve.
