NO CHALLENGE TOO GREAT, NO BATTLE TOO FIERCE: HS—UNDAUNTED
The greatest Trainers are those who are fearless in the face of battle. And that’s you! In the Pokémon TCG: HS—Undaunted expansion, you’ll discover battle-ready Pokémon just waiting to be summoned by the fearless Trainer in you! The powerful Rayquaza and Deoxys become a Pokémon LEGEND to be reckoned with…six Pokémon—from Raichu to Umbreon to Slowking—join the ranks of Pokémon Prime…and Stadium cards like the Ruins of Alph and Trainer cards like Legend Box change every player’s strategy. Are you ready to be Undaunted?
HS—Undaunted arrived on 18 August 2010 with a lean but memorable 90‑card lineup plus one secret rare. Adapted from Japan’s Reviving Legends, the expansion throws the spotlight on Johto stalwarts and two headline LEGEND duos—Kyogre & Groudon LEGEND and Rayquaza & Deoxys LEGEND—whose oversized artworks crackle across two cards each. Booster wrappers feature Houndoom, Rayquaza, Skarmory, and Deoxys, while the twin theme decks Nightfall (Umbreon) and Daybreak (Espeon) capture the set’s dusk‑versus‑dawn mood.
Gameplay variety comes from six new Pokémon Prime: Espeon, Umbreon, Raichu, Slowking, Houndoom, and Scizor. Their spiked holo borders and gold‑foil names are more than cosmetic; Umbreon Prime can strip away Special Energy, Houndoom Prime speeds Dark decks by recycling Darkness Energy, and Scizor Prime walls off attackers that carry Special Energy altogether. The LEGEND pairs bring board‑sweeping power: “Megaton Tail” from Kyogre & Groudon can level benches, while “Dragon Stream” on Rayquaza & Deoxys accelerates Energy straight from the discard. Staple Trainers like Legend Box—which lets you reveal the top ten cards to drop a LEGEND directly onto the Bench—made these titans surprisingly playable.
Collectors have plenty of easter eggs to hunt. The secret rare Alph Lithograph FOUR (91/90) hides a translation cipher that, when solved, reads “Each Pokémon has its own nature,” completing a four‑card puzzle begun in earlier sets. Early print runs of Raichu Prime show a faint vertical gloss line through the artwork—a subtle machining quirk prized by variant hunters. Line up the two halves of either LEGEND pair next to the corresponding booster‑pack art and the backgrounds align into a continuous panoramic storm. And fun fact: HS—Undaunted remains the only expansion where both Eeveelution Primes debut together, making it a must‑have chapter for any dedicated Eevee collector.
