Open Your Eyes to a Whole New Kind of Pokémon!

Kalos has been revealed, yet so much still remains unseen! New Trainers, new tactics, and the awe-inspiring Xerneas and Yveltal await—as does something else. Something…different. Something to make even the mightiest of Pokémon-EX tremble! A new age begins in the Pokémon TCG with Mega Evolution!

Pokémon TCG: XY Pokémon Set marks the exciting dawn of the XY Series, releasing in English on February 5, 2014 (after Japan’s dual Collection X and Collection Y debuted on December 13, 2013). As the first main expansion of the XY Era, XY brings Generation VI Pokémon to the TCG for the very first time, spotlighting the majestic Legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal on stunning Full‑Art Pokémon‑EX cards. With over 140 cards—including Trainers, Energies, and the brand‑new Fairy type—XY Pokémon Set lays the groundwork for countless deck strategies and unforgettable pulls.

A cornerstone of the XY Pokémon Set is the introduction of M Pokémon‑EX, a special sub‑type representing Mega Evolutions from Pokémon X and Y. These cards pack a single, devastating attack and wrap the Mega’s name and artwork seamlessly into the design—though Mega Evolving ends your turn, capturing the high‑risk, high‑reward thrill of the video games. To distinguish these titans, both Pokémon‑EX and M Pokémon‑EX earned a new rarity symbol (RR), making chase hunts even more intense. XY also officially added the Fairy type to the card game, ushering in whimsical new counters to Dragon, Fighting, and Dark decks alike.

Beyond mechanics, the XY Pokémon Set dazzles with playful details that collectors love. International and Japanese printings feature swapped language text in artwork areas—Japanese packs display English attack names, while international releases showcase Japanese text—creating fun cross‑cultural variations. This was also the first expansion to lower the TCG’s recommended age from 10+ to 6+, broadening the game’s appeal to a younger audience. Whether you’re powering up a Mega Charizard‑EX, fairy‑type strategist, or building around Xerneas’s “Geomancy,” the XY Pokémon Set stands as a landmark release that redefined the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
